Look around you right now. You are probably on your phone or on your computer reading this article. Maybe you’re in your house in a room with lighting, maybe near a TV? No matter where you are, take a moment to look around you and notice everything that runs on energy. Electricity keeps the world running and it is an Electrical Technician’s job to bring the electricity you need into your local hospitals, businesses, houses, etc.

Of course, Electrical Technicians are not limited to only one specific skill set. A career as an Electrical Technician varies day to day and would allow you to work with your mind and with your hands. On a normal day you might be installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing electrical systems. However, there are a variety of other tasks you might be challenged with, for example: maintaining large equipment for factories, using power tools, troubleshooting to determine problems, etc.

As an Electrical Technician, you have the opportunity to work in numerous environments as Electrical Technicians are often employed at hospitals, retail businesses, universities, and electrical companies.

You will also learn a variety of skills that you will use on a daily basis. Some of these skills include; problem-solving, mechanical, logical-thinking, math etc. In certain environments you may also need good communication skills. This might come in handy if you have to communicate with clients often or if you manage a team.  With a well-rounded knowledge of equipment and systems as well as a varied skillset you will be ready to tackle the many different tasks Electrical Technicians face throughout their careers.
